The Wedding Ceremony
The law of Jamaica stipulates that a license must be granted before a marriage is conducted.
The law also requires that a couple should be in Jamaica at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the wedding. We at Merril’s Beach Resort recommend that the couple stay at least two additional days to make all the final arrangements for the wedding.
Non-English speaking passport holders must have documents translated before issuing them. These documents must be in our possession at least three weeks prior to the couples intended date of arrival.

- Notarized copy of Birth Certificate of the Bride and Groom or a picture ID i.e. (Driver’s License or Passport)
- Notarized copy of Divorce Decree, Final Judgement (if applicable)
- Notarized copy of Death Certificate (if applicable)
- Job Titles/Occupation
The minister’s fee includes the following:
- Securing the License
- Performing the Ceremony
- Securing the Marriage Certificate
- Note that the hotel is not responsible for the legalization of Marriage Documents with relevant Embassies/ Consulates*
- An additional cost will be charged if Certificate has to be send by express mail to guest residence*
